Meet Simran Sharma. Simran joined the team at Venuiti Group of Companies over 2 years ago and has been helping build and create DevStaff Canada ever since. Her love for Marketing and tech has made her so successful in her position here at DevStaff. Want to learn more about Simran? Here’s a behind-the-scenes look!
What led you to joining the team here at DevStaff Canada?
I was headhunted while I was at school. I was taking a course in Marketing and then I joined Venuiti Solutions. It was a very new experience because I had never done any B2B marketing and this was around the time when DevStaff Canada was introduced. We started building it from the ground up, through client outreach and candidate campaigns. It was our new project that I would now be taking on.
What was your background experience before joining DevStaff?
I had previously taken two courses, in public relations and integrated communications. There I focused on B2C marketing while learning graphic design and event marketing. I was also enrolled in a marketing management program where I took a B2B marketing course, which I was able to apply to my position here at DevStaff.
What do you think is the most important character trait to have in order to succeed in the workforce?
I’d say one needs to be open to trying new things and exploring different aspects of their role. Embrace the learning curves, work with dedication & you’ll see the results for sure!
As a Talent Specialist at DevStaff, what do you look for when hiring?
Good Communication is BIG for me
What does a typical day in your life look like? How do you balance work and your personal life?
I am very dedicated to my work and love to stay on top of things. My typical work day includes working on multiple marketing campaigns, strategizing, & optimizing. I love working with some awesome marketing automation tools that Venuiti has build in-house. I have also had the experience to onboard co-op students on our marketing team. It’s been a great experience working with fresh minds helping them achieve their learning goals.
So, while my work days are full of a plethora of things, when I come home from a day at the office I enjoy hanging out with my friends, cooking and watching movies with them. I actually live with my friends, which is the best part!
We'd love to know what you do on the weekends, how do you spend your free time?
Whenever I do have free time, I try to get back to my hobbies that have been inactive for a long time, like reading. I am also working towards having a work-out routine in place these days. At night, I also love going out to eat with friends. I make it a priority to try a new place every so often. One of our favourite places to eat is called Sushi Star in Kitchener, we are definitely regulars there now.
Throughout your time with DevStaff what has been the most memorable experience?
Oh there have been so many!
One thing that I really appreciate is the team. I was a very nervous and shy person when I first joined and now I am leading our weekly report meetings and am able to speak with many candidates every day. I have grown a lot because of this supportive team that we have.
Working on the client side is also really rewarding. Being able to get a client just from a single LinkedIn message is something that I am really proud of. We’ve worked with some amazing clients, which all started from just one LinkedIn message.
Lastly, what is your vision for the future?
In terms of my career, I really want to learn programming. That’s something I’ve always been interested in, so I can definitely see myself pursuing a career in it eventually.
